The director gave him some dialogues of a ‘Amli’ (drug addict) and told Sharma to enact them . He loved Sharma’s performance and got him the role of his friend . Sharma continued doing theater for another 8 years . His father passing away had a huge impact on his life

Sharma continued doing theater for another 8 years . His father passing away had a huge impact on his life . His family was not financially well off and Sharma decided to leave for Mumbai to start off his career. Kapil Sharma’s career began with his participation in ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge Season 3′ . Sharma went on to win the show . This was just the beginning . He won Rs.10 Lakhs from the Laughter Challenge and spent most of it in getting his sister married . His stand-up characters such as Shamsher ( a typical Punjab Police inspector ) and Lala Roshan Lal received much acclaim . Kapil Sharma went on to be a part of ‘Ustaadon Ka Ustaad’ (2008) where contestants of ‘Comedy Circus’ competed with those of ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challange’ . He also co-hosted comedy show ‘Chotte Miyan’ (2008) with Juhi Parmar . He joined ‘Hans Baliye’ as a wild card contestant in 2009 . In 2010 , Kapil Sharma went onto win ‘Comedy Circus Ke Superstars’ and ‘Comedy Circus ka Jadoo’ . The following year he won , ‘Jubilee Comedy Circus’ , ‘Comedy Circus ke Taansen’ and ‘Comedy Circus ka Naya Daur’ . In 2012 , he won ‘Kahani Comedy Circus Ki’ . Kapil sharma also co-hosted the ‘Pifaa awards’ held in Toronto in 2012 and ‘Zee Cine Awards 2013 – flashback’ . His current projects include him hosting the dancing show ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (season 6)’ alongside Manish Paul with Karan Johar , Madhuri Dixit and Remo D’Souza as judges and presented on Colors tv . Also ,Sharma defied odds when he launched his own production house by the name of ‘K-9 productions’ which is producing the super-hit show ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ . He is the script writer , actor and producer of the show . In early 2013 , Kapil Sharma was ranked as the 96th celebrity among top 100 celebrities in Forbes India magazine .
