Punjabi music industry is incomplete without the mention of living legend Jazzy B . Jaswinder Singh Bains was born on April 1 1975 in village Durgapur , Nawanshahar district Jalandhar, Punjab .Jazzy B’s family shifted to Vancouver , Canada when he was 5 years old . Early on Jazzy B set his own style and image starting from his school days . As a teenager Jazzy B worked at a construction site and also became a star ice hockey player for his high school . He used to sing at weddings and parties .Some of his friends persuaded him to take Bhangra seriously as a career . Jazzy B turned professional at the age of 18 , with the release of the superhit album ,”Ghuggian da Jorra” . After the album Jazzy B shifted to England where he currently resides . He released all his albums with Sukhshinder Shinda as the producer , known as the ‘Music Man’ of the industry . Together the duo have collaborated and created some of Bhangra’s biggest hits such as , “Londono Patola” , “Naag” , “Sardara”, “Dil Luteya” , “Tera Roop”, and “Soorma” . In 2005 , they also pulled over a record crowd of 65,000 at Paramount Canada’s Wonderland near Toronto when they were on tour to promote their albums ,”Romeo” and “Balle” . Jazzy b’s fame and success can be credited to not only his talent but his unique style of appearance as well . Also he has mixed both the traditional Punjabi folk style and modern westernized global music together and created his own blend . Jazzy B is the best selling Bhangra artist to date which speaks volumes of his talent and marketing strategy . He exclusively works for Sukhshinder Shinda . Jazzy B always says that when he was 4 years of age Bhangra legend Ustad Kuldeep Manak had come to do a akhara in Durgapur . His uncle carried him on his shoulders and took his to the show .Ustad Kuldeep Manak ji had such an impact on Jazzy B that he made him his guru . Jazzy B’s dreams came true when he recorded the album “Maharajas” with Kuldeep Manak and his son Yudhvir Manak which went on to be a blockbuster album . He kept close ties with the Manak family and always regarded them as his own . Always wearing proudly his famous ‘khanda’ on his neck Jazzy B is also religious . In 1997 Jazzy B underwent a throat surgery due to health issue . He couldn’t sing for a year and turned to god for help and miraculously got his voice back . As a token of appreciation, Jazzy B did something which many Punjabi artist did not do at that time . He released a religious album by the name of “Singhan di Kaum Bahadur Hai” in 1999 . Since then many artist have started following his steps and also released religious albums . in 2000 Jazzy B made his acting debut in a Hindi film by the name of “Shaheed Udham Singh” in which Punjabi singing legend Gurdas Maan played the role of Shaheed Bhagat Singh . In 2006 Jazzy B played a cameo role performing the song , “Chukk de Punjabi” in the movie “Teesri Aankh” . Jazzy B made his debut in Punjabi films with the recently released super-hit film ,”Best of Luck” where he plays the role of a gangster by the name of ‘Goli’ . His character in the movie is against abuse of drugs and the film also revolves around a love story . In this movie Jazzy B acted with co-star Gippy Grewal as ‘Kullu’ and Binnu Dhillon as ‘Happy’ . Other star cast of the film includes the likes of , Simran Kaur Mundi ,Sonam Bajwa , Puneet Issar , Karamjit Anmol and Miss Pooja . Recent controversy which surrounded Jazzy B was his chart-buster and enthralling song , ‘Baagi’ . The song was part of a movie ‘Sadda Haq’ which was banned by the Punjab government but later released by the Supreme Court . Jazzy B follows football passionately , in particular the English Premiere League . He is a massive and avid fan of Liverpool Football Club (est.1982) .
