Mika Singh

Amrik Singh, known by his stage name Mika Singh was born on June 10, 1977, in Durgapur, West Bengal to Ajmer Singh Chandan and Balbir Kaur and was brought up in Patna, Bihar along with his brother Daler Mehndi. Both his parents took interest in music. He is the youngest of six Mehndi brothers. Ajmer Singh, his father was an amateur wrestler as well as a classical musician while Balbir Kaur, his mother had a great interest in the field of folk music and she had also been an amateur wrestler at the state level. He started getting trained in music since his childhood days. When he was 8 years old, he started playing the tabla and at the age of 12, he also began learning how to play the harmonium. Then again, at 14 years of age, Mika Singh started playing the guitar as well. Initially he used to sing kirtans but later on he moved up the ladder and he became a renowned bhangra/pop artist. In the year 1998 when he was just 21 years of age, he released his very first album called ‘Sawan Mein Lag Gayee Aag’ which was an instant success for him. Following ‘Sawan Mein Lag Gayee Aag’, Mika Singh released numerous other hit albums like ‘Dunali’, ‘Gabru’, ‘Something Something’ and ‘Ishq Brandy’. Throughout his illustrious career, Mika Singh came out with numerous chartbusters, all from his films and private albums. Some of the films which he had worked for are as follows: ‘Pyaar Ke Side Effects’, ‘Apna Sapna Money Money’, ‘Nehlle Pe Dehlla’, Dhol’, ‘Jab We Met’, ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’, ‘Mission Istaanbul’, ‘Dus Kahaniyaan’, ‘Ugly Aur Pagli’, ‘Mr. White Mr. Black’, ‘Singh Is King’, ‘Woodstock Villa’, ‘Wafaa’, ‘My Friend Ganesha 2’, ‘Dil Kabaddi’, ‘C Kkompany’, ‘Bad Luck Govind’, ‘Oye Lucky! He sang not only for hindi films but also for punjabi films . Mika Singh gave several massive blockbusters in 2013 such as Gandi Baat , Tooh , Tu Mere Agal Bagal Hai , Aala Re Aala , Punjabiyaan Di Battery , Jatt Baal Duga , Lucky Di Unlucky Story and many more.
