Jaswinder Bhalla – Famous Punjabi

A Famous Punjabi Comedian and Actor , Jaswinder Bhalla was born on 4th may 1960 in the town of Doraha , Ludhiana . His father Master Bahadur Singh Bhalla was a primary school teacher . He got his basic education from Senior Secondary School Doraha . He was exposed to comedy in his school days and cracked jokes on his friends and teachers . He started performing on Independence day and Republic day shows . Jaswinder Bhalla and two of schoolmates got selected for All India Radio in 1975 . He made his debut in comedy with the release of popular series , ‘Chankata’ in 1988 . Little did he know that the show would gain such popularity and continue to be a hit for two more decades. Bhalla co-performed with Bal Mukund Sharma in the popular series . Some of the comical characters that Bhalla became known for were those of ‘Chacha Chatur Singh’ and ‘Bhana’. Prior to releasing the first audio cassette of ‘Chankata’ ,Bhalla and Bal Mukund Sharma used to perform on stage shows in university . Their play was known by the name of Chankata .One of the professors suggested them to use this name for their first release and that is how chankata was named so . Bal Mukund Sharma and Bhalla were classmates in Punjab Agriculture University (PAU) . Jaswinder Bhalla graduated and got his Doctorate from Punjab Agricultural University . Currently he is a professor of a Agricultural Science at PAU . Jaswinder Bhalla and Bal Mukund Sharma got noticed through Jagdev Singh Jassowal’s prof Mohan Singh Mela , Ludhiana by Doordarshan Kendar , Jalandhar . Bhalla released 27 audio and video albums of ‘Chankata’ . He tried to depict various sections of the society and common issues of people in Punjab through his comedy . He was allegedly attacked by the government of Punjab for his satire on them . Jaswinder Bhalla made his debut in films with the release of ‘Dulla Bhatti’ in 1998 . He went on to be part of films like ‘Mahaul Theek Hai’ (1999) , ‘Badla The Revenge'(2003) , ‘Nalaik’ (2005) , ‘Billian Ch Bandar’ (2007) , ‘Chak De Phatte’ (2008) , ‘Mel Karade Rabba’ (2010) , ‘Jihne Mera Dil Luteya’ (2011) . His recent hits include , ‘Jatt and Juliet’ (2012) , ‘Carry On Jatta'(2012) , ‘Raula Pai Gaya’ (2012) , ‘Power Cut’ (2012) , ‘Daddy Cool Munde Fool’ (2013) , ‘Lucky Di Unlucky Story’ (2013) and so on . In an interview Bhalla ji says that “If two films ,’Carry on Jatta’ and ‘Jatt and Juliet’ can bring about investors and new people to develop 50 odd films then 2013 will have 6-7 hit films and the impact of those successes would be great “. He goes on to say that ” the future of Punjabi cinema and comedy looks bright and currently the industry is going through a golden age “. Jaswinder bhalla’s future projects include films like ,’Saada Jawai NRI’ ,’Paaji In Problem’ and ‘Carry on Jatta 2’ .
