B.N Sharma

A comedian who has made his name through plays and films , B.N Sharma was born and raised in Delhi . Sharma’s parents wanted him to pursue the field of engineering . In 1972 , he got a job as a police constable in Chandigarh and served the job for 25 years while concurrently developing his love and skills to make a career in acting by doing plays in theater . Sharma managed to complete over 40 films while being a police constable as well . B.N Sharma’s acting career began with a Punjabi soap by the name of ‘ Jeb Katre ‘ in 1985 , played on Jalandhar Doordarshan . He went on to also star in late Jaspal Bhatti’s shows ‘Ulta Pulta’ and ‘Flop Show’ in which he played negative roles and was applauded for his performance. His first break in movies came in the form of a flick called ‘Baisakhi’ in 1987 . The movie was declared a hit . Later he was casted in ‘Mahaul Theek Hai’ in 1999 which was a super-hit and since then Sharma became synonymous with the name ‘ Billu Bakra ‘ . B.N Sharma has now played roles in over 70 films and has recently signed many back to back films . With Punjabi cinema reaching new heights B.N Sharma says that he is glad this has taken place and wishes that this trend should continue with films being made of new topics and presented with premium quality . When asked about the difference in cinema then and now Sharma says there is a huge difference in the budget of the film and the professionalism .Some of B.N Sharma’s more recent successes include ‘Jatt and Juliet’ 1 and 2 where he plays along with comedian ,Rana Ranbir (Shampy) as his father ‘Shampy da Daddy’ and ‘Carry on Jatta’ in which he is inspecter sikander singh tiwana . Sharma has won the best actor in a comic role award at ptc punjabi film awards . He has also requested punjab government to take measures and make punjabi cinema internationally renowned .
