Rupinder Singh Grewal ,fondly known as Gippy was born in Ludhiana .His hometown is Koom Kalan.He did his schooling in Lot Gangu Rai and completed his Degree in Hotel Management from North India Institute of Hotel Management, Panchkula, Haryana. In 2002, Gippy made his debut with the album Chakkh Lay in 2002 followed by many more. He started his acting career in 2010 with the movie Mel Karade Rabba. He dubbed the movie A Good Day to Die Fard in 2013 starring Bruce Willis and it was the first Ho;;ywood movie to be dubbed in Punjabi.He made his lead acting in Bollywood movie Second Hand Husband . He ventured into direction a and made his directed the Punjabi movie Ardaas which was a box office hit .

Gippy Grewal is best known for his singing and acting . He has also produced some of the hit films like Carry on Jatta,Ardaas,Manje Bistre,Shinda Shinda No Papa, and many others.Angreji Beat with Yo Yo Honey Singh was very much loved by the audience. And proved to be the biggest song of his career. In 2012, The song Angreji Beat was featured in the Bollywood Movie `Cocktail`.

Gippy was born to his father,late Santokh Singh and mother Kulwant Kaur. He has a brother,Sippy Grewal who is a film distributor based in Australlia. He married Ravneet Kaur who is also a producer. They have three sons,Ekomkar Grewal,Gurfateh Grewal and Gurbaaz Grewal.
