THE BEGINNINGS:
Arif Lohar full name is Mohammed Arif Lohar. He was born in Lal Musa in Gujrat District,Punjab of Pakistan. His fatherAlam Lohar belonged to the village of Achh ,GUJRAT. He was a prominent folk singer. Arif with his seven brothers started singing at a young age. He debuted as an actor in the year1987 in apaistani movie Silsila. He did a show on Pakistani tv in Mehkaar.

He is the only child of Alam Lohar that has carried on the musical lineage and promoted the traditional values . Arif has performed in more than 50 foreign tours around the world duringthe last 20 years At the opening of the Asian Games in 2004, Arif Lohar performed in China to an audience of almost a million. As part of the international delegation of peace and goodwill,Arif Lohar performed in North Korea for the late General Secretary Kim Jong il . He has more than 150 albums to his name and has recorded more than 3000 songs mostly in Punjabi. In 2010,he participated in Coke Studio season 3.Filmmaker Saif Ali Khan bought the rights of`Jugni`for his movie Cocktail. Alif Allah Chambey di Booti is based on a poem by the 17th century Sufi mystic Sultan Bahu .Its one of his most popular songs.He reached his apex of fame with the song `Jugni Ji` along with Pakistani singer /actress Meesha Shafi at the Coke Studio Pakistan.

Arif Lohar has seven brothers and five sisters. His brothers have all migrated to England and started their livelihood over there. Arif Lohar is married and has a son and daughter.
