BEGINNINGS :
Bhalla was born in Doraha,Ludhiana,Punjab ,india. He did hid schooling in Government High School,Doraha and Guru Nanak Model Senior Secondary School Doraha. He did his PhD. in Agriculture Science from Chaudhary Charan Singh Post Graduate College.Meerut. He began his career as an Assistant Professor in the PAU.Â
Bhalla got selected for All India Radio in 1975.He started his professional career in 1988 with co performer Bal Mukund Sharma with audio cassette Channkata. He potrayed many characters in the Chankatta series. The comical characters that Bhalla became known for were those of ‘Chacha Chatur Singh’ and ‘Bhana’.  He debuted in films with the film Dulla Bhatti in 1998. He worked in many movies like carry on Jatta,Jatt and Juliet, Jatt Airways etc.
BEST KNOWN FOR :
He is known as a comedian. He is known to highlight social evils like female foeticide,drugs and unemployment. He has till now released over 27 audio and video albums of Chhankata series.
FAMILY :
Bhalla father was a school teacher .He married Parmdeep Kaur who was a fine arts teacher. They have a son, Pukhraj Bhalla who is an actor and a daughter, Ashpreet kaur who is marries in Norway.
