THE BEGINNINGS:
Gurdas Maan was born in Giddarbaha, Muktsar, Punjab to parents Tej Kaur and Gurdev Singh.  He did his Diploma in Sports Coaching from National Institute of Sports,Patiala,India. He gave his first stage performance during his college days for the Punjab State Electricity Board on the song Sajna Ve Sajna. The officials were so impressed that they offered him a job in the department which he accepted. He was a fine athlete and won a bronze medal at the National Wrestling Championship .He is also a black belt in Judo.
BESTÂ KNOWN FOR:
Gurdas Maan is best known for his singing . He has also acted in movies. He shot to fame with the song Dil Da Mamla in 1980 . He sang on DD National. Maan is the only Punjabi singer to win the National Award for Best Male Playback Singer at the 54th National Film Awards. He was awarded the award for his singing narrative for the song Heer in Waris Shad:Ishq Da Waaris.He shot to fame with the song Mamla Gadbad Hai. Challa , is the hit film song from the Punjabi film Laung Da Lishkara(1986).Maan has acted in many Punjabi and Bollywood movies.He has won numerous awards including the Jury`s Award presented to him by the president of India in 2005.He has sang on coke Studio MTV season 4 with singer Daljit Dosanjh. The song was released on 15th August 2015 and hit more than 32 million viewa on Youtube in one week.
FAMILY LIFE :
He is married to Manjit Maan. They have a son Gurickk Maan who is married to Simran Kaur Mundi.
